This is
a homepage of Eastern Railway (India), made by a rail enthusiast,
operating in eastern part of India. In these pages efforts have been made
to present the history of railways in INDIA and eastern part of India, and
the contribution made by East Indian Railway Company in
initiating the RAILROAD MOVEMENT in India. The materials used in the pages
hereafter have been collected by me from various sources, archives,
libraries, newspapers and of course from Eastern Railway head quarters,
divisions and workshops.
Apart from the
index on the right you will find a large number of pictures, old and new,
throughout these pages. You will find rare pictures of Howrah and Sealdah
stations, Liluah shops and a few other interesting
pictures.

PRESENTED BY MRINAL
Railway Board formed
in the year 1905.
Sir Thomas Robertson who was appointed by His Majesty as Special
Commissioner to report on future management of railways submitted his
report in 1903. As a result of his efforts the Railway Board assumed
office in 1905.
I had
great encouragement from the members of
Indian Railway Fan
Club Association (IRFCA),
an e-mail group having a large number of experienced, learned and
dedicated lovers of Indian Railways, consisting of members from all over
India and quite a few other countries, exchanging valuable
opinions/experiences regarding IR, its present, past and future amongst
themselves. It is a free non-profit organisation and any one who is an
ardent fan of Indian Railways should subscribe to free membership. Also
visit IRFCA's own website with loads of resources at
